I have been asked by a number of clients and friends if I have done any readings about the Covid-19 crisis. Usually, I decline this kind of thing. I have learned, after my many years with the cards, that they are meant for personal connections to people and situations. These cards are tools for how to handle things and what we should expect, and personally, watching the news can get really overwhelming. I needed some tools, so I thought I’d take a look. Perhaps it will help you too.
I put down cards for how the Covid-19 coronavirus will affect me and my loved ones. Here is a picture of the spread:
Let’s start with The Devil: inherently, the Devil is not a bad card. He is a card of the superficial, and this is important to keep in mind. Think: surfaces. Keep them clean and don’t touch them if you don’t have to. The Devil is also a card of the sensual pleasures and indulgences. You’re more likely to pick up Covid-19 going out to eat, seeing a concert, doing those things we love to do so much.
My next card was the Three of Swords, and because this represents heartbreak, I added some cards around it for clarification. I wanted to be sure that no one close to me will die. Because the Death card is in reverse, I don’t think that will be the case. Death in reverse is more about postponements and cancelations that feel heartbreaking, such as the memorial service coming up for my dearly departed friend, Patrick Oldani. Justice in reverse tells me this will be a legal mandate. The Seven of Pentacles in reverse and Nine of Pentacles in reverse tell me that people will lose money and overall quality of life for a while. Heartbreaking, indeed.
The Six of Pentacles shows me to be in a giving or charitable role, helping the less fortunate, at some time during this crisis. I already do volunteer work, so we will see if that is more of the same or something else.
The Chariot reversed tells me we won’t be going out much for a while. After I took this picture, I added cards to that too. How long will we be quarantined? I pulled a Four of Cups: up to four weeks. Four months seems unlikely to me, but that is in the tarot’s span of time here. Four years is too far off for the tarot, so relax about that. Sometimes the number four represents the month of April. Same difference.
The Eight of Wands reversed may be of the greatest concern. This is a card of misinformation and sometimes panic, that can occur. Be smart. Be clean and vigilant. But don’t panic. That will just make it worse.
I had been meaning to write here in the blog for ages, and I guess I needed a crisis to get me going. Remember that I do lots of readings by phone, Skype, and FaceTime for just $2 a minute. Would love to help you and your loved ones through this quarantine. Here’s to spring!
